2020 marks the first VIRTUAL Interhouse “HBIS Has Talent” competition for the Hout Bay International high school. Students auditioned with various talents, showcasing the school's true passion for the arts.

In the Drama classes the passion for the performing arts were really reaching a high with MYP 1-4 students showcasing various World Theatre Traditions.

MYP 1 worked on Shadow Play Puppet Theatre: Students would adapt a fairy-tale, fable or animation to perform with Shadow Play Puppets individually or in a duo. Students would write their own scripts and create their own puppets and then perform these pieces using their puppets. MYP 2 students explored Eastern Theatre Traditions with make-up. They developed their research skills by focusing on three different Eastern Theatre traditions, namely Peking Opera, Kabuki and Noh Theatre. Students then created a specific make-up design and replicated it on themselves.

The MYP 3 Drama class explored Ancient Greek Theatre. Students would perform a monologue/scene from Oedipus Rex by Sophocles and create their own Greek Masks for their performances.

Finally, MYP 4 Drama class put their original devised scripts from page to stage. Students wrote their own scripts based on given stimuli, in order to perform their own works on the classroom stage.
